The last time the motion-capture star played Gollum was in 2012’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

But now Serkis has reprised the schizoid for a new parody video called WE WANTS IT, however, it’s not the Gollum of Middle Earth Lord of the Rings fans are acquainted with.

The three-minute clip sees Theresa May sitting in a drawing room at No 10 Downing Street as an aide brings her a copy of the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

When the camera pans round, it’s Serkis dressed as the Prime Minister talking as Gollum and calling her deal, “our precious.”

On the show’s YouTube channel, the video description reads: “No better voice could embody Trump’s maniacal, power-hungry ranting than War for the Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis’ famous character.”

Following in the footsteps of Star Wars actor Mark Hamill reading them as Batman’s The Joker, Serkis gave a hilarious rendition as Gollum.

Standing on a chair in the Lord of the Rings character’s crouched pose, the actor read the tweet in one of cinema’s most unforgettable voices.

He said: “The fake news media has never been so wrong, or so dirty! Purposely incorrect stories and phoney sources to meet their agenda of hate. Sad!”

Colbert then gave him that famous one, which he also read out: “Despite the constant negative press, covfefe.”

In character Serkis, asked Colbert: “Wait, what is covfefe precious?”

Before the host responded: “No one knows!”
