Lost In Space on Netflix: What happened to child star who played Will Robinson in movie?

The Robinson family is Lost in Space all over again.

This time Netflix has rebooted the story with a female villain and greater diversity in the cast and the famiy itself.

The central story, though, still revolves around young Will and his mysterious robot/alien protector.

Another mystery is what happened to the young lead from the 1998 film flop with an all-star cast and one young hopeful as the little boy.  

Unfortunately, it seems that Jack Johnson’s budding career was also lost in space.

He starred alongside Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Mimi Rogers and Friends’ Matt Le Blanc. Le Blanc and Johnson both saw their fledgling movie star hopes stall alongside the spaceship’s engines.

Jack is the dark-haired concert-goer at the front. The music theme at least ties in with his career trajectory.

After making a few brief on screen appearances after Lost in Space, Jack also did voice work on the animated Disney series Fillmore until 2004, which is his last acting credit.

Since then, he has pursued his interest in classical music and is now a composer.

His compositions have been featured on National Public Radio and he attended the California Summer School of the Arts program at the California Institute of the Arts from 2003-2005.

Even as Lost in Space was about to hit cinemas he revealed acting was not his big dream.

He said at the time of his plans: “Don’t let acting take over your life – stay in school and do sports and stay normal. I just want to stay in school and keep doing this part time.”
