Mark Hamill reveals SHOCKING difference between Disney Star Wars and George Lucas’ movies
He helmed the original and prequel trilogies, but after selling the rights to Disney in 2012, Star Wars has been out of Lucas’ hands.
Now while JJ Abrams’ The Force Awakens saw the sequel trilogy kicked off with a safe retread of nostalgia, it was Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi that split fans.
Both Episode VII and VIII are completely different. At times more critical fans felt that mysteries set up in The Force Awakens were trolled over by Johnson when he took over.
Just look at the fan reactions to Luke throwing Anakin’s lightsaber behind his head, Snoke’s death and Rey’s parents reveal.
Now Luke Skywalker star Hamill, who hasn’t exactly been subtle in what appears to be a disdain for The Last Jedi, has explained what the big difference between Disney Star Wars and Lucas’ approach.
Speaking with IGN, the 66-year-old said: “Remember, George had an overall arc (in the original trilogy).
“If he didn’t have all the details, he had sort of an overall feel for where the three were going.”
The 74-year-old billionaire said: “[The next three Star Wars film] were going to get into a macrobiotic world. But there’s this world of creatures that operate differently than we do.
“I call them the Whills. And the Whills are the ones who actually control the universe. They feed off the Force.
“If I’d held onto the company I could have done it, and then it would have been done.
“Of course, a lot of the fans would have hated it, just like they did Phantom Menace and everything, but at least the whole story from beginning to end would be told.”
