Sarah Ferguson, 58, and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, 58, married in 1986, and divorced a decade later in 1996.

The pair have two daughters together: Princess Eugenie, 28, who is engaged to Jack Brooksbank, 31, and Princess Beatrice, 29.

Despite Sarah and Prince Andrew’s divorce, a palace insider revealed to Express.co.uk that they still maintain a “strange relationship”.

The Duchess of York posts about Prince Andrew on her Instagram frequently, and has been seen to attend royal events as Prince Andrew’s guest in recent years.

So what is the relationship between the pair, who have now been divorced for over 20 years?

It is believed Sarah and Prince Andrew still live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, and this was confirmed by the palace source.

“Believe it or not, they do live together at the Royal Lodge,” said the source.

“She used to stay in a different house, but she sold it and moved in after the Queen Mother died.

“He made her an apartment there to stay there,” added the source.

It is believed the pair’s daughters have long since moved out from the Royal Lodge home.

The source added that the relationship was “strange”, and a mystery even to even those close to the pair.

“It’s a strange relationship, no one really knows, even I don’t quite know how it all works.”

Only last week, Sarah posted a photo of Prince Andrew wearing official uniform on her personal Instagram account.

She captioned it: “So proud of the new Colonel of The Grenadier Guards @hrhthedukeofyork.”

One person commented: “Everyone hopes this love match of the century rekindles…the spark never went out…”

Earlier this week, it was said that Sarah Ferguson is the same as Meghan Markle.

The two women are said to share “similar” personality traits, and to both be “colourful” by nature, according to a source.

“The Duchess of York is very colourful and very interactive. She has a particularly robust character.

“They’re similar, Meghan and the Duchess of York – it’s not a bad thing,” said the source.

The insider speculated that the Duke and Duchess of York’s doomed marriage – which ended in 1996 after 10 years – would have been “very different” today.

The couple reportedly spent a lot of time part while Prince Andrew was on royal duties, and separated in 1992 before their 1996 divorce. “It’s very different now, time wise. It’s more modern,” said the source.
