Star Wars 9: Big hint THIS character will FINALLY wield a lightsaber?

John Boyega’s Finn briefly used the weapon in 2015’s The Force Awakens.

But expectations that he would be the main Jedi character of the new trilogy were flipped when it was revealed that Daisy Ridley’s Rey was actually the one who would be taking to using the Force.

So will we ever see Finn with a saber again? The actor may have hinted on Twitter that he could.

A fan wrote: “Hopefully my man @JohnBoyega will truly shine in IX and the Finn character will be shown as the badass hero I’ve been waiting for him to be since VII.

“And hopefully he’ll wield a saber again.”

Boyega replied to the post – cryptically teasing: “We’ve got you in this one bro! TRUST me!”

The tweet went largely unnoticed when it was posted last week, but Star Wars fans on Reddit have drawn fresh attention to it overnight.

Of course any Star Wars plot or stoyline information at this stage is completely unconfirmed by Lucasfilm, but do we have a strong sign here that Finn could wield the iconic weapon one more time?

Amidst other teasers that have filtered through, Adam Driver revealed in a new interview that bosses are in the midst of a complex arc with Kylo Ren, which will naturally reach its conclusion in Episode 9.

Asked by Vulture what’s “interesting” to him about Kylo, Driver admitted that even that question was too loaded for him to answer fully.

“That’s hard to say because we’re working toward something in particular with that character,” he said.

“I don’t want to give anything away.”

Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe, has also spoke about the more collaborative atmosphere on set.

“The way they’ve been shooting it right now is looser than it’s been for the last two times,” he told Indie Wire.

“It does feel like a relief to get on set and feel like, ‘Oh, we can try things.’

“It’s a testament to JJ coming back and feeling confident.”

Star Wars 9 is out December 19, 2019.
