Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi's Ewan McGregor finally gives UPDATE on solo movie

The actor was appearing on US panel show The View in support of new movie Christopher Robin when he was probed on whether or not he’s heading back to a galaxy far, far away.

“I would totally do it, of course,” he enthused.

Alas, he insisted that there are still no plans set in stone.

“There’s no plans as such to do it, as far as I know,” he admitted.

“I’ve been asked this question for years and years. I’d be happy to do it.

“There must be a good story to tell as they’re doing spin-offs – there’s likely to be a good Obi-Wan between me and Alec Guinness.

“I’ve answered ‘yes’ so many times it looks like I’m touting for work!”

Obi-Wan has been rumoured to be getting his own Star Wars spin-off story for some time now, even after it was recently claimed that production on all non-trilogy Star Wars projects has been put on hold following the disappointing performance of Solo.

It’s even been claimed that LucasFilm have scouted locations for an Obi-Wan story, though this has never been confirmed.

What is definite, however, is that work on Star Wars: Episode IX has now begun.

The concluding part of the Skywalker Saga has begun work under director JJ Abrams, who confirmed his cast last week.

Officially returning are Mark Hamill as (a presumably ghostly) Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Luptia Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Adam Driver, Kelly Marie Tran and Billy Dee Williams.

Carrie Fisher will also appear via unused footage from 2015’s The Force Awakens.

McGregor’s latest project, Christopher Robin, is out in the UK on August 17.
