Star Wars shock: Obi-Wan CAUSED Anakin's defeat in Revenge of the Sith & HERE'S the proof

For years, most fans have believed that Obi-wan Kenobi was trying to save Anakin up until the very last moment.

At the climax of their dramatic duel on Mustafar it seemed like the master was trying to warn his beloved apprentice, despite all that gone wrong between them.

Obi-Wan jumps to the bank of the lava and shouts: “It’s over Anakin. I have the high ground.”

What if he was actually trying to provoke Anakin, not warn him?

A powerful new argument points out that Obi-Wan knew exactly how hot-headed Anakin was. The experienced Jedi knew his former student was proud, impetuous and arrogant, with an overwhelming sense of his own superiority.

Sure enough, Anakin replies: “You underestimate my power.”

Although Obi-Wan has the higher ground, Anakin still has many options, but it’s argued that he was being manipulated into making the wrong choice.

Even when Obi-Wan cries: “Don’t do it”, this can be seen as provocation.

Clearly he knows what Anakin will do, in trying to emulate Obi-Wan’s by-now-legendary victorious leap over Darth Maul. The Jedi must also know that telling Anakin not to try it will only enflame his pride and determination to prove his superiority.

Is Anakin being played?

Obi-Wan, a past master in Jedi tricks and emotional manipulations as we have seen countless times, has just ensured certain victory with a simple mind game.

Shockingly, the original script for The Revenge of the Sith had Padme try and kill Anakin first.

Reddit user Martel732 says: “That Obi-Wan (higher ground) statement was entirely intended to provoke Anakin into making a mistake.

“Obi-Wan was a master of Soresu, a lightsaber form specializing in defense and taking advantages of mistakes by your opponent. And Obi-Wan had trained Anakin he knew exact how he fights and what would provoke him.

“Right before the high-ground scene, Anakin said, ‘from my perspective the Jedi are evil.’ This causes Obi Wan to reply, ‘then you are truly lost.’

“There seems to be a significant change to Obi-Wan’s demeanour as though he realised that Anakin couldn’t be redeemed (at least not be him) and that he had to end the fight.”

The victorious but grief-stricken Obi-Wan walks away and while the body does not die, Anakin is effectively dead as Darth Vader takes over and his eyes glow Sith yellow and red.
