Star Wars Solo: BIG difference between new spin-off and main saga revealed

Alden Ehrenreich plays Han Solo in the new film, which lands worldwide on May 25.

Speaking to The Star Wars Show on YouTube, Ehrenreich was asked what makes Solo: A Star Wars Story particularly unique.

“It has a lot of jokes,” he said. “A lot of humour.

“You spend more time dealing with feelings and the inner life of the characters. All of the characters, in a way.”

On where Han is in his life, he explained: “I think you’re meeting him at a time when he’s young and he’s an idealist.

“He still has kind of a romantic vision or feeling that he’s gonna get out of this.

“He grew up in rough circumstances so [he’s focussed on] getting out of that and making a life for himself.”

Ehrenreich is joined by Donald Glover as a younger Lando Calrissian, and the actor and musician said that his status as a huge Star Wars fan served him well in his performance.

“You tend to do a better job when you’re a fan,” he reasoned. “You have standards.”

Joining the duo in the ensemble are Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany.

The movie is directed by Ron Howard – who took over the reigns when Phil Lord and Chris Miller were axed last year.

Solo has a high bar to meet: the first major Star Wars spin-off, Rogue One, became a huge success in 2016.

It will also face strong competition at the box office, with Avengers: Infinity War likely to still be doing well at that point.

Deadpool 2 will also be fresh on the market by the time the Millennium Falcon returns to cinemas.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is out on May 25.
