Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the new Schroders building today in the City of London.

Her Royal Highness looked beautiful in blue despite the blustery November weather when she arrived to meet members of staff at the asset management company.

Wearing a blue coat with a black fur-trim, the Queen added a matching hat, with a coordinating black flower on the brim, to her outfit.

With gloved hands, the great-grandmother of six carried her favourite black leather handbag.

She embellished her outfit with a triple diamond bar brooch on her shoulder.

During her visit the Queen met with young apprentices, who often join straight from school and former members of the British Army who are part of the military placement scheme.

The 92-year-old Monarch smiled as she was given a tour of the trading floor and viewed artwork made out of old bonds and share certificates from as far back as 1864.

When Her Majesty unveiled the plaque to mark the new headquarters, the staff gave three cheers to celebrate.
