Venom movie: Venom release date, cast, plot, and trailer
Venom is a wildly popular comic book character despite his less than blockbuster friendly demeanour.
Given his antihero nature, it’s not surprising that the first trailer for the Venom movie with Tom Hardy has been popular.
You can watch the newest trailer, released today, right here on Express.co.uk
Who is in the Venom cast?
Academy Award-nominated Tomy Hardy plays Eddie Brock, the journalist-turned-super-anti-hero Venom.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9 CAST: WHO IS RICHARD E GRANT IN STAR WARS?
Venom has a similar set of powers to Spider-Man, though his web-slinging is black, as is his suit.
Also, Venom likes to murder people, which makes him more similar to Deadpool than Captain America (though without the merc-with-a-mouth’s sense of humour).
His girlfriend is played by Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Eddie’s girlfriend and a district attorney.
Woody Harrelson is also on the cast list in an unnamed role (though he is set to have a bigger role in the next Venom, yes you read that right) but in all likelihood, he’ll take up the role of Carnage, a villain in both Venom movies.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9 CAST: WHO IS NAOMI ACKIE? WHO WILL SHE PLAY?
Harrelson worked with Venom director Ruben Fleischer on the dark comedy Zombieland.
Riz Ahmed plays the villain Carlton Drake aka Riot, the genius inventor and leader of the Life Foundation experimenting on the symbiote.
Venom’s director Ruben Fleischer told the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con Drak was: “an evil megalomaniac trying to take over the world.”
The Marvel-based movie is being produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
What is the plot of Venom?
Venom follows the investigative journalist Eddie Brock as he attempts to revive his career after a scandal by investigating the Life Foundation.
When he comes into contact with an alien symbiote that bonds with him, it gives him superpowers as long as they share the same body.
Despite Venom being part of the Marvel comic universe, Marvel Studios has no designs to meld it with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So there won’t be a Venom meets Captain America crossover movie.
What is Venom’s release date?
Venom is in cinemas October 5, 2018.
