Wonder Woman 1984: Are there new photos of Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman sequel?

Gal Gadot took the world by storm when she appeared as Wonder Woman in the 2017 movie directed by Patty Jenkins.

Jenkins herself tweeted the first bit of information about the Wonder Woman sequel with a tantalising image: WW84 on a static background.

The image led fans to believe that the Wonder Woman sequel would take place in the 80s.

Other Wonder Woman set photos began to leak, lending more credence to the theory of when Wonder Woman is set: 1984.

And then today, Gal Gadot tweeted another image.

This time we see Wonder Woman in her full glory, and her most famous outfit.

The photo comes courtesy of Gal Gadot herself, with the caption: “She’s back.”

Early suspicious about the timing of Wonder Woman sequel indicated she could find herself in the Cold War era.

Then the theory of Wonder Woman 2 being set in the 1980s was confirmed at this year’s CinemaCon.

Diana first appeared as the superhero Wonder Woman during World War I.

Her love interest, Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine) is also set to reappear in the 80s despite his demise in the first Wonder Woman movie.

Pictures posted by Patty Jenkins showed Steve Trevor in the land of the living, though seemingly confused, and wearing 80s style clothing.

DC Comic fans might draw connections between the title of the Wonder Woman sequel and the issue of the comic which saw Trevor coming back to life.

Wonder Woman comic No. 332 was released, aptly, in 1984 and the issue was integral to Trevor’s storyline.

The 1984 issue had the goddess of love, Aphrodite, wiping Trevor’s mind and implanting his body with original-Trevor’s memories.

The connection in publication-year may hint towards a potential similarity in plot, and fans are certainly helping to draw the lines between the comics and the movies.

Wonder Woman 1984 is due to be released in November 2019.
