Deadpool 2: Cable’s teddy bear – Will Hope Summers appear in X-Force or Deadpool 3?

WARNING SPOILERS FOR DEADPOOL 2 AHEAD

Deadpool 2 revealed Josh Brolin as a time-travelling cyborg from the future, bent on preventing the murder of his family.

Cable is heavily armed, but also carries around a damaged teddy bear, which he says is covered in his daughter’s blood.

Later in the film it’s revealed that the boy he’s come back to try and kill is Fire Fist, who grows up to kill his family.

In the end Deadpool managed to get the kid to change his ways, so presumably Cable’s family is now alive in the future.

But just who is his daughter? Well in the comics Cable’s real name is Nathan Summers and his adopted daughter is called Hope.

She was seen as a miracle during a period of no mutant births, which interestingly ties in with the plot of Logan – a film set in 2029.

A group called the Purifiers found out about Hope and wanted her dead, so Cable went into exile through time to raise and train her.

HOW DOES DEADPOOL 2 FIT INTO THE CRAZY X-MEN MOVIE TIMELINE?

Meanwhile the two were chased by Bishop, another time traveller from a post-apocalyptic future, who was last seen on screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Once Hope grew up, she and Cable returned to the present day to assist the X-Men.

While she didn’t appear in Deadpool 2, Cable is living in the present for now as a member of X-Force.

But seeing as she survived in the future thanks to Fire Fist being rehabilitated in the past, it would make sense for a grown-up version of Hope to travel back in time to be reunited with her father.

Hope’s mutant gift is to use the powers of any mutant who is in her vicinity, so perhaps she could harness that of Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead – or even Deadpool himself?

X-Force is due in cinemas next year, while Deadpool 3 is also in the pipeline.
