The trailer, which launched today, has drummed up a wealth of support.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement for the upcoming movie starring Brie Larson.

Even fans of the Marvel comic books have something to get excited about…

Did you SPOT Captain Marvel’s helmet and MOHAWK? What does it mean?

The helmet, Mohawk, and mask only appeared briefly in the trailer.

But this brief sighting was enough to ignite the joy of fans.

In the early Captain Marvel comics, the helmet and mask – and Carol Danvers’ subsequent mohawk – featured prominently.

However, as Captain Marvel’s costume was updated, the helmet was left behind.

Given Captain Marvel is a movie about her origin, it makes sense an early costume piece would appear.

Initially, the helmet helped Captain Marvel breathe in space.

Once it was decided this was a power she had innately, the helmet was gotten rid of.

But its inclusion in the movie leads some to think this ability was taken out of her arsenal by the movie’s writers.

Given no photos have revealed the helmet so far, there may come a point in the film where she develops the ability to breathe on her own in space thus making the helmet redundant.

For now, the head-joy is very cool and adds an element of punk rock to the already incredible superhero.

Unwittingly, perhaps, Samuel L Jackson – who plays the infamous Nick Fury – revealed the helmet in an Instagram photo from two months ago.

In the picture, Jackson wore a Captain Marvel tee shirt, in which she sported the helmet and hairstyle.

CAPTAIN MARVEL: WILL THIS GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VILLAIN APPEAR?

The shirt does not seem to be on general sale and was likely something made especially for Jackson, or the cast and crew.

Of course, his Instagram photo was never a definitive clue – until now.

Another costume piece missing from the trailer is Captain Marvel’s sash.
