'I'm a hairdresser and this haircut will make you look 10 years younger'

A hairdresser has shared a snipping hack for shaving 10 years off your age – and it involves a “fresh and trendy” trim. Maintaining a youthful look can be important to many, with anti-ageing products such as moisturisers and anti-wrinkle creams consistently flying off the shelves.

Billions of pounds-worth of spending across the globe is directed towards the anti-ageing industry – but it doesn’t need to be that drastic, one hairdresser has claimed. While these products may be effective, they can be costly and require a dedicated routine to apply them every day.

Luckily there are other methods available that can help you appear younger, if that is your desired goal. One hairdresser revealed a style of haircut that can help “take 10 years off” your appearance.

Maria McCool, the CEO of haircare brand Calista Tools, took to social media platform TikTok to share a “fresh” and “trendy” look that knocks years off.

This haircut is best suited for women with short, grey hair, she said. In a video, uploaded to the Calista Tools account, she said: “Okay, if you wanna take 10 years off, start by changing the shape of your short haircut.”

She then performed a haircut on her client Phyllis, creating a shorter, more layered look.

“With Phyllis I’m doing squared layers throughout the entire interior of the haircut just to change the shape,” Maria said.

“Now I’m taking my razor and I’m finishing all the edges with it so that this way it’s wispy and soft. And then I’m just gonna blend that long top in.”

To complete the look she used her own products in Phyllis’ hair.

Maria said: “Now I’m using the foam just to get movement into the hair and the perfector just to define it. But really, to finish this style, I’m going to use my embellish definer.

“That’s going to define all the layers and the shape, the square shape that I created. Oh, my god. She loves it. And it’s fresh, trendy, and new for the fall.”

Maria’s followers were impressed with the final look. One commented: “Wow that suits her so much better, really 10 years off.”

Another said: “You made her look like a model.” And one added: “That’s an incredible cut and transformation!”
