Marvel movies are a worldwide success, garnering accolades from critics and fans alike.

Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is currently playing in cinemas, is the most recent success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But fans are already wondering if it will head to Netflix, and what it will mean for the future of streaming Marvel movies.

Is Ant-Man and the Wasp the LAST Marvel movie to go to Netflix?

The short and sweet answer, which will likely disappoint some, is yes.

Marvel has a fairly decisive pattern when it comes to its cinematic releases landing on the streaming site.

So fans in the UK will likely have to wait till April or May 2019 for Ant-Man and the Wasp on Netflix.

But after the Ant-Man sequel, Marvel fans will have to look further than Netflix to get their MCU fix.

AVENGERS 4: DID MARVEL LEAK NEW THEORY ABOUT IRON MAN AND THANOS?

Netflix is perhaps one of the most ubiquitous streaming websites, with movies and TV series from all over the world housed there available to people anywhere.

A profitable deal struck between Marvel and Netflix has meant the comic-based movies have long lived on Netflix.

However, Disney has long harboured plans to start its own on-demand streaming service.

This plan has made fans sceptical about their potential future ability to stream Marvel movies and other Disney movies.

There are “no current plans” to move Marvel-themed television shows off Netflix, a Disney spokeswoman said.

But an in-depth look into the Disney streaming service, carried out by The New York Times, said: “Starting with Captain Marvel in March [2019], all of the films that Walt Disney Studios releases in theatres will subsequently flow to the Disney streaming platform instead of to Netflix.”

Additionally, a Bloomberg report from last week detailed how Disney has been attempting to purchase the rights to the older Star Wars films from Turner Broadcasting.

This move was presumably so the old Star Wars movies could sit alongside the new ones on Disney’s new service.

AVENGERS 4: WHAT WILL GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’S ROLE BE IN AVENGERS 4?

Despite the rumours turning to fact Disney is yet to release any key details about the service, like its fee or how it will operate overseas.

While Disney has tried to keep mum about original content for the site, we do know the studio is planning a live-action Star Wars show from Jon Favreau.

This live-action series will is alongside originals based on currently owned properties like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Monsters Inc.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is now playing in cinemas.

Captain Marvel is in cinemas Friday, March 3, 2019, and Avengers 4 is in cinemas Friday, April 26, 2019.
