Oscars 2019 odds: THESE are the TOP CONTENDERS for the big prizes at the Oscars

The Oscars 2019 will see actors and directors descend on Los Angeles on February 25 with hopes to win some of the prestigious awards. The awards are the Academy’s 91st and after some surprising winners at the Golden Globe Awards in January, anything could happen. Here are the top contenders for the big prizes at the Oscars revealed.

Top contenders for the big prizes at the Oscars 2019 (odds from Betfair)

Best Actor

Rami Malek’s surprise win at the Golden Globes for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody has seen the actor rocket to the top of bookies Best Actor list at just 4/7.

Malek is followed by British actor Christian Bale in second for his performance as former vice president Dick Cheney in Vice.

A Star is Born actor Bradley Cooper is in third place at 11/4 while Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen complete the top five contenders to win the Best Actor prize at the Oscar’s this year.

Best Actress

A recent surge in support has put six-times Oscar-nominated Glenn Close at the top of bookies Betfair’s list.

The American actress odds are currently showing an 8/15 chance of her winning the prestigious prize.

Close is followed by Olivia Colman in second at 9/4 and Lady Gaga at 9/2.

Best Picture

Betfair makes it odds on at 10/11 for Roma to win best picture at the Oscars this year.

The drama is followed by A Star is Born with current odds placing the movie at 5/2.

Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book are both at 4/1 and The Favourite completes the top five list with odds at 14/1.

Best Director

Alfonso Cuaron is currently leading the punter’s list for best director for his movie Roma at 1/10.

The Mexican director is followed by Bradley Cooper for his film A Star is Born at 11/2 while Spike Lee is in third place.

Damien Chapelle, Paul Schrader and Bo Turnham also have decent chances at this year’s Academy awards.

Best Adapted Screenplay

BlackKKlansman is topping the list for best adapted screenplay at 1/3, while If Beale Street Could Talk is placed second at 3/1.

A Star is Born has odds at 6/1, while First Man and Beautiful Boy completes Betfair’s top five list at 9/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Best Animated Feature

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are topping the punters’ list at 4/11 and is followed by Incredibles 2 at 3/1.

Isle of Dogs, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Mirai are also included on the list.

Best Original Screenplay

Leading the list for best original screenplay this year is Green Book at 11/8.

Also on the list is The Favourite and Roma, both at 5/2, as well as Vice and Eighth Grade at 5/1 and 10/1.

Best Supporting Actor

Betfair places Mahershala Ali at the top of its list for best supporting actor for his role in Green Book.

Sam Elliott is currently in second place at 2/1 together with Timothee Chalamete.

Richard E. Grant and Michael B. Jordan complete the top five list.

Best Supporting Actress

Regina King has rocketed to the top of the list for best supporting actress with her odds showing 4/7 at the moment.

Amy Adams’s odds are currently showing evens while odds at 7/1 puts Claire Foy in third place.

The top five is completed by Emma Stone and Margot Robbie.
