Why Meghan and Kate will start wearing Princess Diana’s jewellery NOW, expert reveals

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have access to a large wealth of jewels thanks to being a part of the Royal Family.

The Queen has an enormous jewellery collection both women have borrowed from.

This includes Meghan Markle’s wedding tiara the Queen Mary Lozenge Bandeau and Kate Middleton’s Cartier Halo tiara, which she wore for her wedding.

However, both women will also be able to borrow from the private jewellery collection of Princess Diana.

The late mother of Prince William and Harry specified she would like to leave her jewellery to her son’s wives.

Meghan Markle wore the aquamarine ring Princess Diana replaced her engagement ring from Charles with leaving for her Frogmore House reception on her big day.

Will we see more of Diana’s jewellery now?

One expert thinks so. Ella Kay of website The Court Jeweler told GoodHousekeeping.com: “It wouldn’t surprise me if they kept back the lion’s share of jewellery until both of the princes were married so that they could split it.”

She added: “Harry hadn’t needed it so far but I can imagine them saying, ‘We don’t want Kate to start wearing it all’ because there would be nothing left [for Harry’s wife].”

It is not clear exactly what jewellery has been left to who, but Meghan and Kate are clear fans of Diana’s jewels.

Princess Diana’s aquamarine and diamond ring is valued at around £75,000.

Grant Mobley, a gemologist and Director at Pluczenik, one of the world’s leading diamantaires told Express.co.uk: “The Princess was very fond of a pearl and diamond bracelet featuring a large emerald cut aquamarine that she was given in her early years as a princess and, after her divorce, she commissioned this matching ring to be made,” Grant explained.

He said: “It’s also quite fitting that the late Princess Diana only ever chose to wear diamonds on her ring finger since diamonds are the ultimate representation of love and commitment.”

Diana was known for her impeccable sense of style.
